Welcome to the October 2013 issue of Shine On Hollywood Magazine (SOHM)!  As the temperature begins to go down, the new film and television season gears up and the Affordable Care Act officially initiates, the editors at Shine On Hollywood think it is important to remember that it is not only Breast Cancer Awareness Month, but also a time to highlight and celebrate survivors and activists in all areas of health and wellness.  

This month's cover story features the beautiful Joanna Cassidy, who shares with us what it's been like to work steadily in television and film over a remarkable span of 40 plus years. From the art and culture of the East coast to the iconic San Francisco film scene, to the star making machinery of glittering Hollywood, this veteran actress has had a remarkable career with no end in sight. Her insights provide valuable material for our readers to enjoy and learn from.  

This month's issue also features Patrick Reynolds, who takes us on a journey into the world of a grandson of the mega-wealthy industry giant RJ Reynolds, maker of Camel cigarettes, to the reasons behind his choice to become the activist founder of The Foundation for a SmokeFree America, dedicated to protecting the health of our nations children; Frank Ferrante, the subject of a remarkable film documentary journey from the depths of despair, addiction and obesity to the heights of gratitude, achievement and love; Maria Casas, Singer, Actress, Linguist and Diversity Advocate, and the quirky artist, poet and pencil aficionado, Josie Basford  - “Let them be your motivation.”

SOHM remains a politics and gossip free publication with it's focus on, Real People, Real Stories, from the Arts and Pop Culture Community who make a difference by giving back; and we are delighted to share their heart-felt stories with you. We will continue to provide the industry's foremost creative meeting place with monthly showcases, news, opinions, analysis, and audience feedback.

Dear Friends,

You might not have known but Shine on Hollywood Magazine partnered with the US Global Business Forum for a conference at the Anaheim Convention Center on Saturday, September 7th. The main focus on the all day expo was to promote ‘Global Peace through Global Trade’. This was the 8th Annual Global Business Expo to have taken place in Southern California.

Our publisher, Arnold Garcia and Kevin Kaul of the USGBF joined forces to spotlight the growth of trade throughout the world and the advances of technology which allows the free market to prosper.  We were able to learn the State of California is considered by many at the conference as an active participant in the growth and expansion of burgeoning markets around the world. By example, the African continent has made impressive strides in elevating its goals for an active economy through trade with California. The cooperation of nations and entrepreneurs in this region has accelerated growth in income.  The ‘Global Peace through Global Trade’ initiative offers the opportunity to increase the standard of living in depressed areas.

While there were formidable dignitaries and government figures represented at the conference, Shine on Hollywood Magazine was able to provide a relaxing atmosphere, by its role as the originator of the entertainment for the entire business gathering. Along side with music groups and individual artists, a contingent of notable celebrities lined the Red Carpet. The expo featured groups from divergent locales to meet on a day to foster the camaraderie that ‘Global Peace through Global Trade’ is a concept and a message that can excite the entire world.

By happenstance both Messrs. Garcia and Kaul were met to carry out this year’s conference by the addition of entertainment to the festivities. While the focus of Shine on Hollywood Magazine spotlights the entertainment industry, the desire to include celebrities helped to recognize that everyone from all walks of life profoundly agree, that peace can be promoted when all of us work together.

As an advisor to Mr. Garcia, I am proud of his participation at this conference, even though this event is unique and outside of the parameters of the magazines’ focus on personalities in entertainment. Nonetheless, any effort to elevate the plight of those in poverty, to end the misunderstandings among nations and to seek solutions to bring peace throughout the world, these noteworthy examples were displayed as the basis for the 8th Annual Global Business Expo. With this emphasis in mind, the gathering was indeed a great success!

Hollywood, CA (September 1, 2013) - Release of September 2013 issue of Shine On Hollywood Magazine (SOHM)!  As the summer draws to a close and we celebrate Labor Day, the world once again takes up the issue of maintaining peace among nations. The editors at Shine On Hollywood think it is important to shine a light on the effort of those who are making a difference.  

This month's cover story highlights Kishore "Kevin" Kaul, on our "Share Your Shine, Tell Your Story." segment. Mr. Kaul is an Indian-American entrepreneur who tirelessly dedicates his time and talent to bringing about "Global Peace through Global Trade." His story also highlights the motivations, contributions and struggles faced by immigrants, for whom he embraces America to be truly the greatest nation in the world.  

This month's issue also features Beth Ann Hilton, from the business and marketing side of the music industry, Al Conti, a brilliant New Age/World Music fusion artist and Jack Donaldson, an expert music collector and DJ, in his efforts to provide education and encouragement for all of the young professionals who also represent the entertainment industry.  “Let them be your motivation.”
